Mark and Kim Erickson

Married in Florida earlier this month, Mark and Kim were guests of honor at a reception in the St Andrew's Fellowship Hall where they greeted members of the congregation and the community.  They've both been working in Japan as teachers, so this was a welcome opportunity for many friends to see and congratulate them.

Council Member Helen Briggs Reports on
our Companion Synod Country  Costa Rica

Helen joined a Hickory-based group of mission partners for a trip to Costa Rica last January.  Participants included members of Holy Trinity and the L-R community.  Prof Briggs shared news and reflections with us as the guest speaker for our annual Global Mission Ice Cream Social on Sunday afternoon August 1st.   A superb slide show on powerpoint led us along the way to the downtown scenes, the rustic Lutheran campground where the volunteers stayed, and the church where the community gather.  Children were beneficiaries of the ministry activity and well featured in the presentation along with some amazing things to know about this Central American nation.
